made at home - sewing book review

Hello! If you read my blog over at Obscure Journey, you'd already know i started sewing or making clothes and not only. Of course, i needed [and wanted] a few books to guide me on how to make certain items and not only. below you can see a part of the collection of books i had at some time in 2019/2020. I gave away a few of these books, as i'm not interested in ALL the possible crafts that use needles and thread or yarn. "made at home - a guide for simple sewing" is a book by Lisa Stickley, intended for those who just start sewing. The book is full of step-by-step instructions on how to make a...

Elderflower tea

Hello there! What do you prefer to drink, out of these 2 choices: tea or coffee? Well, personally, i like coffee more than tea, but i won't refuse a cup of nice warm and flavorful tea. Spoiler alert: this kind of tea is not what i'll present you with this time around. In this entry, i'll talk about tea made from elderflowers. yes, you read that right! Elderflower goes by the scientific name of , and in Romania tea is made out of it. This tea is part of the natural remedies people would use when something bothers them. According to this page, this tea is used to treat the first symptoms...

NOPE (2022) - review, spoilers

Hello, everyone! I just watched the new movie NOPE. i'm speechless. This movie is .... oh, gosh! Short backstory of WHY we decided to watch it Steven Yeun plays in it. He was made famous by the now infamous The Walking Dead show and the grotesque way JD Morgan's character (Negan) killed Steven's character, named Glenn. I used the pronouns "we" and "I" because I'm referring to my partner and I. However, we watched the movie separately, for no particular reason. As usual, I'll share the poster and then some spoilers [hopefully not too many] will follow, as well as its official trailer after that....

Il Bisbetico Domato (1980) movie impressions and spoilers

What was that, you say? Il Bisbetico Domato can be translated into either one of these: The Taming of the Shrew or The Taming of the Scoundrel Here we are again, talking about a foreign movie. This time we have an Italian movie from 1980, if the title wasn't enough of a hint. I'm not particularly sure which is the correct translation of the Italian title. However, The Taming of the Scoundrel makes more sense when you watch the movie. I'll say this movie is more of a romantic comedy, and you can read a bit more about it on its English Wikipedia page, from where I borrowed the picture seen below....

Halloween (2018) - review, spoilers

Hey readers! This entry is a bit different. Together with A, i went to see the latest installment of the Halloween franchise. I thought I could post a review of the movie too, just like I used to. However, there's a twist to this review: A wrote it, and not me. This will be obvious as you continue reading the entry. I will put her words in orange as she mixes spoilers with her thoughts on the movie. If you wonder what I thought of the movie, my answer is simple: i pretty much agree with everything she says. I liked it, and i can't say there was something particularly disturbing... maybe the beginning...

Flower of Evil -Korean drama review, spoilers

Ah! hi there! Flower of Evil is one of the best Korean dramas of 2020. I believe I watched it as it was made available with English subs on one of those sites that do this kind of thing. In the Flower of Evil, we re-meet Moon Chae-Won and Lee Joon-Gi who played together in Criminal Minds . This link will take you to the page where I spoke about this drama. Flower of Evil has plenty of suspense, secrets that will be revealed, and most annoyingly, a disappointing ending. Out of the 16 episodes, whenever I think of this drama, I choose to ignore the last one. But this is enough spoilers without the...

A Star Is Born (2018) - review, spoilers

Hello, folks! Long time no blog! This time, I just remembered we went to watch the movie "A Star Is Born" which apparently is the 4th remake of the 1934 original. Right off the bat, I have to tell you I haven't watched any of the previous versions, so I had no idea of what to expect. 1937 movie poster I will try not to spoil you too much, though you probably already know what the movie is all about. Especially if you're older than me and have watched the previous versions, or at least one of them. Beware as spoilers follow! The main character is Ally, played by Lady Gaga. She works in a big restaurant...

Final Recipe (2013) - review, spoilers

Hi all! It seems I was hit with new ideas for this blog: writing my impressions on movies or series I watch, books I read, and .. well, I don't play video games. This is a movie from 2013 and it's a South Korean and Thai production. This is a drama about growing up, family reuniting, and it has a happy ending. There are also a couple of more funny scenes, but comedy isn't on the menu of this movie - see what I did there? I watched a version dubbed in Chinese [most likely Mandarin, but I can't be sure at this point], though originally English was also spoken in the movie. The movie was also subbed...

The House of the Disappeared (2017)- opinions and review

Hello there! Do you know I like to watch horror movies? at least I used to. The last one I saw (when i first wrote this entry, maybe in 2018?) was The House of the Disappeared, a South Korean mystery thriller, released earlier this year. The main actress is Kim Yun-jin who you might have seen in the TV series Lost. Apparently, the original title translates to House Above Time, and I personally think it would have been a better choice as an English title as well. Both translations give indications to what the movie is about, though the original tells exactly why things happened. I guess I spoiled...

A Quiet Place - review, spoilers

I have 4 words about this movie: i got SO SCARED! Lately, I can't sit still through a scary movie anymore, no matter the type. I get really absorbed into the action, and then anxious, sometimes to the paranoid level. And of course all other related and not fun jazz. It was A's birthday today - April 14th, so we had to do something fun. Going to the movies IS fun. Before I start, I have to warn you there won't be major spoilers this time because the movie is new, still playing and some of you might not want to be spoiled. If you want to read spoilers, I'm sure there are many other sites and blogs...
